Sarasota visitors and homeowners agree record-setting “winter” chill is not desired beach, boating & golf weather….
Sarasota shows disgust with continued “mild” winter weather, occasionally dropping into the 20′s at night and 60′s during the day.
So what’s the big deal, you ask? Well, Sarasota visitors and residents apparently moved here to escape cold, snow & ice.
If you REALLY know cold (as most of the country, Canada & UK know this year especially) please don’t call all of us “wimps” when you check out the short video below:
Let’s be clear, I LOVE this unseasonal winter chill.
Of course, I’m sorry for the financial strain crippling Florida’s exotic fish growers and farmers, whose strawberry crops, in particular, are down 50-75%.
Eye Of The Beholder….
“Winter” is in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it?
Sarasota’s once-in-21-year-winter is giving us the opportunity to:
- Turn off the a/c & reduce energy consumption…and high energy bills.
- Open the windows and sliders, inviting in fresh air and birds’ chirping.
- Wear a jacket and long-sleeved shirts. We get to change up our wardrobe…how nice.
- Get out for longer walks and runs without suffering dehydration & heat stroke.
- Turn on our gas or wood fireplaces. It’s winters like this, I wish we had a fireplace. As a substitute, we’re firing up a portable fire pit. Throw on a jacket, pull up chairs & grab some marshmellows & hot chocolate. Hmm-hmm good….
- For years, I couldn’t see a difference between the steamy, hot Florida summers and winters -- they rolled together. Every day was hot and humid.
If you’re out of state, don’t let anyone try to fool you. Florida summers are NO fun…unless you’re built for STEAMY and SUFFOCATING.
Watch out if your A/C goes out…you definitely will know uncomfortable really fast! Enough of the summer talk, it’s winter and I’m loving it!
For 21 years, my family and I have lived here. I know heat & humidity. I also know arctic winter conditions…and I hated a Nebraska winter.
If I can help it, the only time I’ll see and endure snow, ice & dreary dark days is when we visit family…emphasis on “visit.”
Are you sitting at your computer, staring out at another blizzard and 32 feet of snow? Are you sick & tired of “real” winter? If it’s time to move to Sarasota, Florida (or surrounding areas), call me now. I’ll be happy to help you find the perfect Sarasota home for you.
Sarasota lifestyle (minus the snow, ice & dark days) adds a little chilly weather to the mix. Instead of beach, enjoy the brisk walks filled with refreshing air. Who said Florida is (just) hot and hotter? It’s official. This year proves Sarasota can enjoy at least 2 seasons.
