Sarasota Realtor Sees STARFISH As Solution To Foreclosure Crisis!

Sarasota Realtor (tries to) help homeowners avoid foreclosure while finding comparison to “starfish” story.

Today in real estate, every (small) action counts!

No doubt, it’s a TOUGH real estate market for sellers, buyers & realtors.

It seems every homeowner is underwater.

It seems every buyer falls in love with a short sale stuck on the desk of some Bank of America’ negotiator who’s staring at a bazillion other short sale files…and sometime in 2013 he/she will get to the file.

…BUT with no guarantee.

You’d better believe there’s TONS of frustration, anguish & confusion trying to help buyers and sellers today.

What do Starfish Have To
Do With Short Sales?

Years ago, I ran across this powerful, short reminder when I was a high school teacher & wondering if I actually was making a difference. I tended to dwell of the kids with whom I was appearing to help….

Today, trying to help homeowners avoid foreclosure I once again recall the same story that I want to share with you. Here it is:

One day a man was walking his dog along the beach after a storm. The tide had washed thousands of starfish onto the beach. They were still alive, but only just. A woman was making her way along the shore, throwing starfish into the sea, one by one.

“Hey, ” the man called out. “there are thousands of starfish on the beach. You’re not going to make a blind bit of difference!”

The woman stooped, picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea. Then she smiled at the man and said, “Made a difference to that one!”

I love that story! It reminds me to think about individuals and not about the big picture. Of course, the big picture is important if you are part of an organization. But I find that looking at the big picture just gets me down and stops me from actually doing something.

Especially trying to help homeowners avoid foreclosure with short sales. Especially trying to help buyers get “lucky” with buying a short sale or REO (bank-owned “real estate owned” property).

Got a question for me? Call or email me now. I’ll try to help you.

Sarasota Real Estate requires this Sarasota Realtor to keep his eye on the person behind the real estate. It’s NOT real estate; it’s one person at a time I’m trying to help. Have you tried to sell a house in today’s market? Were you “underwater”? Have you tried buying a home in this market? Did you initially think you’d grab a killer deal…in 30-45 days? Did you? Are you a realtor facing these challenges today? How do you “manage” your day? I’d love to hear your comments. Scroll down to leave your thoughts, suggestions & questions.
